How to use PEM hydrogen fuel cells in power and microgrid applications

Learn about PEM hydrogen fuel cell technology, as well as its operation and role in clean power generation across different systems.

ATTENDEES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.

Electrical engineers need to better understand the options for power generation in commercial buildings. Power generation applications might require a microgrid or an onsite source.

Hydrogen fuel cells have recently gained significant attention for their potential to provide clean and efficient power generation in various power systems applications, such as emergency backup, prime, continuous and microgrids.

This course provides participants with an overview of proton exchange membrane (PEM) hydrogen fuel cell technology, how it works, the physical space requirements and how hydrogen is sourced and stored.

Learning objectives:

  • Provide understanding of basic workings of PEM fuel cell technology.
  • Understand the different hydrogen production methods and the different colors of hydrogen.
  • Learn about the components of a hydrogen fuel cell generator set.
  • Learn about hydrogen consumption for various size fuel cell generators.
